Earth Day

Dear Parents,

For Earth Day third grade students will be in charge of putting pine straw down at the back of the school.  We are asking each student to donate $1.00.  toward the purchase of the pine straw.  Please send donation in before Spring Break so we can order the pine straw.

Hygiene

Dear Parents,

Today Wellstar visited our classroom.  We learned all about personal hygiene.  Here are some tips for everyone:

    Wash your hands before you eat, after you cough, sneeze, or blow your nose.  Wash your hands after going to the bathroom, playing outside, playing with pets, or anytime your hands look dirty.  We need to wash our face with warm water and soap everyday.  Take a shower or bath everyday to wash away dirt and sweat. We should always brush our teeth twice a day and floss once a day.  Using deodorant each morning, protecting our skin with sunscreen before playing outside, and last never share combs, brushes, hats, helmets,hair ties, or ribbons.

    These tips will help keep our body clean and healthy.

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all of you who have made Teacher Appreciation Week special for me and the other teachers here at Varner!    Please note Daylight Saving time begins Sunday, March 8^th. The monthly Newsletter is going green!  To view this newsletter at your convenience, please go to the Varner webpage and click on Faculty.  For those families who do not have internet access I will send a hard copy of the Newsletter home each month.

The third nine weeks will end the 12th of March.  Report cards will be sent home on March 19^th.  To help your child prepare for the CRCT in April please have them read every night thirty to forty minutes.  For online CRCT practice at home go to https://www.georgiaoas.org type in username and password.  If you have misplaced these let me know and I’ll send you the information. Another math website your student might enjoy is http://www.ixl.com/math/grade/third/.  Please remember you also have the third grade Harcourt Math series online at http://www.eharcourtschool.com.
