Who is Ms. Towne?

Varner_012_3I am now a second grade teacher who has looped with my class from Kindergarten. We have now been together for over 450 school days and still enjoy learning together everyday!

I graduated from the University of Mobile with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.  I am currently enrolled at Kennesaw State and working toward an Educational Leadership degree with a concentration in Technology.  I have worked at Varner Elementary for 4 years now and have had the opportunity to loop with 2 classes.

CRCT Practice

                                                        crctinfo

Believe it or not we are over half way through the year and we all know what is coming in the spring...  the CRCT.  This test is designed to test students on material that they have been taught in 2nd grade.  I have linked a great site to this blog that is worded just like the CRCT.  It can be used as practice at home and at school to give you and myself instant feedback on weak/strong areas.

I will give you your child's log in and password at your conference along with step by step directions to help you along the way. (Remember that students are only responsible for reading the passages in the reading section.  I will still read ALL questions to them.)

The CRCT dates are April 23-25.  This is a Wednesday thru Friday.  Please mark your calendars.  It is very important that ALL students are here to take all parts of this test.

Math at Home!

Bring Your Parent to School Night Info.

This year I have geared "Bring your child to school night" to math.  We ALL can use extra practice and extention in the area of math.  (for the next few weeks homework will also be focused on math skills)  I have attached links for  a few flyers that can be helpful to you when helping your child with many math skills at home.  Taking the time to play these games at home with your child will benifit them in the long run.

Thank you for your continued support with your child's education!
