This month we finished up fitness testing.
We then introduced The First Tee golf program to Kindergarten and any new students to our school. Our kit includes putters, wedges, golf balls (tennis balls that are smaller in diameter and covered in velcro), and three different targets.
Kindergarten was introduced to the equipment and worked on learning the cue words, how to hold a golf club, rolling and putting the golf ball.
First grade reviewed the equipment and worked on using the cue words, rolling and putting the golf ball.
Second and Third grades reviewed the equipment and worked on using the cue words, putting and chipping the golf ball.
Fourth and Fifth graders reviewed the equipment and used a checklist incorporating the cue words while they putted and chipped the golf ball.
In the spring, we will be outside practicing full swing.
