The calendar can be an EXCELLENT way to review math skills. Print a blank calendar from online and then have your children do several or few of the following activities each day.
1. Make a list of all the addition facts that have the sum of today's date. OR List different math problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) that equal today's date.
2. How many tens and ones are in today's date. Draw a picture of it using lines for tens and X's for ones.
3. Show today's date in variations of coins.
4. Roll a die and subtract that number from today's date. Repeat several times.
5. Write sentences that use the words yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
6. Using the date tell what number is 1 more and 1 less. Repeat using other numbers (i.e. 2 more, 5 more, 10 more, etc.)
7. Add/Subtract today's date and the date it was one week ago together.
8. Color the squares on your calendar in a pattern. Name the pattern. Make the same pattern a different way (using numbers, colors, shapes, body movements, etc.)
9. Play "What date was it _______" (i.e. What date was it two weeks ago on Friday?)
10. Figure out if today's date is odd or even. (This will be a new skill for K students to learn.)
