As you are well aware we use AR (Accelerated Reader) in the classroom to help improve student reading comprehension, as well as encouraging them to choose books that are the right level of difficulty for them. (not too easy, not too hard, but just right) Students are even able to challenge themselves with higher level books. All while allowing students to feel a sense of accomplishment and self pride when they do well on a quiz.
All that being said, Varner has gone to a Web Based AR program. Allowing students access to ALL AR reading tests that are out there and much more. There is a Home Connection Option that is GREAT! Now parents can access what their child is doing daily in AR on-line at home.
With your support at home, your child will benefit even more from this program. You will be able to ask them about the book, encourage them to select the level up several 100% are being made & it seems easy, reread a book with them if they struggled with it, or even read a book with them at night and remind them to take a quiz the following day if they are the type who forgets to take a quiz. :-)
