Gimme 5 for Education:  Tuesday, February 21, 2012- Friday, February 24, 2012

Posters are due by Tuesday, February 21,2012. $1  Poster Contest Entry  (FREE entry with Hi-5 donation). Poster can be no larger than 22” x 28”. If a student brings in $5 or more they will have a  BLUE Hand on the “Giving Education a Hi-5” Wall.

 

Spirit Day: Friday, February 24, 2012

Wear your Varner t-shirt current or previous years. The classes with the most participation will win a prize. 

Dress Up Career Day: Friday, February 24, 2012. 

This month the counselors have been doing career lessons with kindergarten through 5th graders to explore the world of work.  This Friday students will be able to dress up as a worker in their favorite career.  Staff and teachers are also encouraged to dress up as a worker in another career...maybe something they only dreamed of doing. Career outfits will count towards Spirit Day. Please be sure that the career outfits do not include any pretend weapons and that it follows the dress code.

Mismatch Dance: Friday, February 24th from 6:00-8:30pm. 

The students can come in their wild and crazy outfits. Tie dyed! Polka dots! Stripes! We will have a contest for the most mismatched outfits. Presale tickets are $3.00 per student. If you pay at the door it is $5.00. The admission price includes snacks and drinks.

 

 

Preschool Playground: On going

Former Varner student and Boy Scout, Ryan Martin will be  building a safe and mud free playground for our special needs preschool students.  This is his  Eagle Scout Leadership Project. The project will be completed by the beginning of April. The total cost for the project is $7813.98. If you would like to donate to this project please send your donations into school in an envelope marked "Preschool Playground Fund" and place it in the PTA mailbox.  Checks need to be made out to Varner PTA. Thank You!
