I apologize for not having the blog up the past two weeks. There was a technology glich which allowed me to post the link pages, but not the blog. The problem has been corrected, however.
Let me catch you up on some of the things we have been doing and some of the "happenings" for next week.
The children spent much of this week being assessed for mid-year and end-of-the-quarter knowledge and understanding of what they have learned about thus far. We have one more Language Arts test next week. We will have a few mini-assessments in math to see where there is still work to be done. Mrs. Landmon and I have decided to postpone our Ice Cream celebration until the Wednesday when we get back from the holidays. We would like to give the children who have not yet passed the tests to have the opportunity over the break to work on their facts.
Mrs. Landmon and I are so proud of the hard work each child has done in writing their final response to literature assignment. All of them have gone through the whole publishing process, from organizing their ideas, to writing with flair, to revising, editing, and finally publishing. ALL has been done on their own. We ahve a beautiful display in the hallway that all may enjoy their great effort.
We will NOT have new spelling words this week. Probably the only homework the children may have is math and reading (RAH). We will resume everything the first week we come back in January.
Our holiday party is next Thursday at 10:30. The children went home with a note from Mrs. Thompson, our room mom, about what to send for the party. One was about food items, and one was about a "stocking stuffer." Please send home the bottom portion of the food item note, so she can keep up with who is bringing what. :)
The children can look forward to 2 programs on Monday. Wellstar is visiting each third grade to discuss healthy hygiene practices. Our specials is a treat; Ken Scott, the magician will be here to amaze us all.
Have a wonderful weekend. We hope to see you at the Winter Holiday Party on Thursday!
