Class Magazine/ Newspaper

Our aspiring authors will be putting together their own publications this 9 weeks as we work on our informational writing.  Students have selected their own topics to research and write about.  Their finished peices will be grouped into our science magazine or a class newspaper which we will distribute and read to other classes in the school.  He are the stages in completing this assignment and due dates:

Research and facts gathered: Due 11/13

Group facts and check for missing information with teacher conference: by 11/15

Rough draft finished: 11/21

Edited cut & paste finished: 11/29

Final Draft Due: 12/1

The are the planned due dates which may be subject to change as things can and usually do come up.  We are always flexible.  I encourage you to discuss this work with your children and monitor their progress as it is a large part of their writing & reading grade this semester.  We are off to a good start and I look forward to their final projects being proudly displayed at home and share among their community here at Varner.
