Final Letter to Parents

Parents,

First off, I hope you all have heard the good news and are extremely proud of your child for their efforts on the CRCT this year. The ENTIRE class passed! Mrs. Powell and I couldn't be more pleased with their performances.

Also, to fill in a few blanks for the next couple days... Tomorrow (Thursday) is our field day. It will start at 9AM and will continue throughout the day. We will enjoy lunch at 11:57-12:27 in the cafeteria. I will travel with a cooler for water/juice if kids have these items. Friday we will have awards in the cafeteria at 12:15 and our Walk of Honor at 1:10. Students are welcome to be signed out after their walk. We will watch a movie in class afterwards.

Finally, thank you very much for the teacher appreciation gifts! We've enjoyed working with your children this year and wish them all the best of luck and much success next year. Thank you all that spent time with the class this year from holiday parties to Camp Fortson. We hope the student and you all have great memories of Varner!

Have an amazing summer,

Nate Benzin & Maria Powell

Writing Assessment Scores Are In!

Writing scores are in for the 5th graders and we will be sending them home today (May 7th).  Congrats to all our students who met or exceeded on the test.  Overall scores above 200 were marked as meets standards/passing.  Each writing category is scored on a scale of 1-5.  A domain score of 3-5 is meeting/exceeding.  Look them over at home and discuss your strengths and weaknesses so you are better prepared for middle school.  We are very proud of our awesome 5th graders.  They beat the County and State averages at Varner!
