Conference Week and Early Release: Monday, October 24th- Friday, 28th, 2011.
Students will be dismissed at 12:20pm to allow time for parent/teacher conferences.
Book Fair: Monday, October 24th- Friday, 28th, 2011. 7:15am - 5:00pm daily
At the Book Fair you will find the latest and finest titles for kids, as well as books of interest to parents. And, you can contribute books to your child's classroom library.The Book Fair is a great way to get everyone excited about reading. Love books? Volunteer to help at the Book Fair. You can help kids select books, work on refreshments, give a book talk, or help pack up. There are lots of ways to participate. Red Ribbon Week: Monday, October 24th - Friday, 28th, 2011.
Our theme for the week is “I’ve got better things to do than drugs.” During this week we pledge to lead a drug-free life. Here are some ways that we will recognize this special week: Monday – Wear your RRW bracelet that you can keep on all week. Tuesday – Teachers will ask the students to draw a picture, write a paragraph, or a poem about the positive activities that they enjoy, which are better than doing drugs (ex. Sports, playing musical instruments, singing, art work, dance, etc.). Wednesday – Wear RED Day (wearing RED signifies that we choose to lead a drug-free life). Thursday and Friday – Counselors will choose students each day to share their picture, poem or writing on the News Team.
Magnet Art: Return orders by Friday October 28th, 2011
This will be our budget for the school year and will help buy markers and clay in the Art Room. The magnet art ideas make great gifts and orders will be returned to Varner by mid-December. The most special gifts are homemade so please think about placing an order.
Spirit Day: Friday,October 28th, 2011.
Wear your Varner t-shirt current or previous years. The classes with the most participation will win a prize.
Lost and Found:
Please check the lost and found for any jackets, hats, lunch boxes, etc during conferences next week.
